Which Types Of Ultrasound Classes Are Available?
There are four different types of ultrasound classes you should consider:
- Introductory Classes. These are basic ultrasound classes which provide students with an introduction to ultrasound theory, use of ultrasound equipment and imaging techniques. - Associate Degree. If you are serious about becoming an ultrasound technician, you should consider the associate degree route as it leads to a professional ultrasound qualification which is accepted worldwide. An associate degree in ultrasound takes two years to complete, and is the most popular type of training.
- Bachelor Level Degree. If you want to gain the highest level of ultrasound training, consider taking the bachelors degree examination route. With this option, your ultrasound classes will take you four years to complete. But you will end up with the most comprehensive level of ultrasound training possible, and this will be reflected in the salary which you’ll ultimately earn.
What Subjects Are Covered In Ultrasound Classes?
There are four main subject areas which are covered in ultrasonic classes:
- Human Physiology. You’ll learn about human anatomy, the major organs and how they work. Within these classes, you’ll also look at ultrasound images and learn how to diagnose common conditions and illnesses using vascular sonography.
- Basic Patient Care. As you’ll be working closely with patients, it’s important to understand how to communicate with them effectively. You’ll also learn about the laws, rules, ethics and regulations which apply when you are working as an ultrasound technician.
- Ultrasound Physics. In these ultrasound classes you’ll learn the theory behind ultrasound, and also find out how to effectively use ultrasound equipment and imaging systems.
- Clinical Practicum. This is the ‘hands on’ part of your training. You’ll get to put all the diagnostic imaging skills which you’ve learned into practice in a clinical environment with real patients.
